No-brainer evidence of auto industry collusion with oil companies.

Dear Sterling:
In you site the "There not really trying award to Ford." compares an apple to an orange.
The model T had:
No air conditioning.
No acceleration.
Manual transmission
Seated uncomfortably four people in open space.
Topped out at about 35 miles per hour.
Had emissions levels on par with two stroke engines.
Got about 25 miles per gallon.
Modern Ford cars in their fleet are:
Usually air conditioned.
Have great acceleration.
Usually have automatic transmissions.
Include SUV's and minivans which seat up to nine passengers.
Have emissions levels which pass strict state and federal regulations.
Get about the same gas mileage with a Model T.
I could easily look at this comparison and say look at all of the progress that Ford has made over
the years.
People these days are buying comfort in exchange for gas mileage. Ford may not be exploring
the high mileage angle because SUV's are outselling compact cars.
Consider a similar argument:
When I was a kid in 1970 we used to pay 29 cents a gallon for our gasoline. Now the gas in
$1.40. I could look at that and say look at how the oil companies have manipulated the system.
In 1970 my mom made $350 dollars a month as a teacher. I make around $3500 on good
months. Really the gasoline should be around $2.90 if it had risen on par with overall
inflation. A really good conspiracy
should have the price around $10.00 a gallon.
It is just a thought,
Take care,
Sid
